The Confessional

To Bill

I was nervous going in,

eager to have it ended and done with,

anticipating the finish, already before

the start.  Standard introductions

made; he’d been connected

to my end, where waited

a confession.  I’d been

naughty, reneging on

agreed upon

terms,

and commitments;

“I’d been born to make a mess,”

says I to He, on the other side stands

not my judge, but a witness to the nature

of my crime; a woman’s crime,

reckless, careless, an adventurer

comes at a price,

I am now prepared to pay.

The confession ended, and He

still on that other side speaks,

of a forgiving land

where freedom still rings.

Mr Darkness says,
